Cambridge combines a mixture of historical tranquillity with the excitement of youth and is a city of great charm. Cambridge has always been regarded by many as an exceptionally attractive place, and it is difficult to see why this should ever change. Above all, Cambridge and the surrounding villages have an extremely strong letting market due simply to the fact that the demand for quality accommodation far exceeds supply. The permanence and wealth of the Cambridge University (which was founded nearly 800 years ago) underpins the local economy and provides a high degree of stability and security. Cambridge is internally known as a centre of excellence, not only for the University but also for its expanding hi-tech and computer industry. The city’s Science Park is generally regarded as leading all others in the UK. Cambridge has also many well-known research establishments, private clinics and two major hospitals. Cambridge has a low level of unemployment and a low crime rate.
Cambridge is very well located for quick access to London, other major UK cities and also for international air travel. The city is only 55 minutes from London by fast and regular trains. The journey by road to London's third airport, Stansted, is approximately 25 minutes. Cambridge is situated in unspoilt countryside and is an attractive place to live, not only for those working or studying there but also for those working in London. Over the last year or two in particular, Cambridge has increasingly become regarded by the professional investor as one of the top destinations within the UK for investment in residential property. | | |
